Starting over in a new country can bring enormous challenges. You may be coping with uncertainty about your future, separation from family, financial stress, difficult past experiences, or challenges adjusting to life in Canada. Therapy can provide a confidential space to build coping skills and discuss your experiences.
Virtual counselling services are available for refugee claimants and asylum seekers experiencing:
Trauma
Grief and loss
Insomnia
Anxiety and uncertainty
Separation from family and loved ones
Stress related to the refugee claim process
Adjustment to major life transitions
Counselling sessions are confidential and respectful. Sessions are offered virtually, providing access to therapy without the need to travel to an office.
Experience Supporting Refugee Claimants
I provide mental health and emotional support throughout various stages of the refugee and immigration process, including:
Supporting mental health throughout the refugee claim process
Preparing emotionally for refugee hearings
Supporting clients through file reviews and appeals
Humanitarian and Compassionate (H&C) applications
Pre-Removal Risk Assessments (PRRAs)
Stay of removal/deportation requests
I am a registered IFHP provider and offer counselling services to clients with IFHP coverage. Please contact me with any questions regarding eligibility and coverage requirements.
Mental Health Reports
I am experienced in preparing mental health reports to support refugee claims at various stages of the asylum claim process. A report provides information about your mental health, relevant history, and the potential psychological impact of your circumstances.
Mental health reports are based on clinical assessment and provided within the scope of my professional role as a social worker & psychotherapist. I do not provide legal advice or immigration services. A mental health report does not provide an opinion on the legal merits or outcome of your claim.
