About Me
I’ve always been curious about people, especially how our relationships can bring out both the best and most difficult parts of who we are. I enjoy learning more about the ways our experiences influence the ways we see ourselves and connect with others. I don’t believe therapy needs to feel clinical or impersonal. I hope it can be a place where you feel comfortable being yourself and you can talk openly about the things that can be difficult to put into words elsewhere.
I’ve had the opportunity to work alongside people throughout many of life’s significant transitions. My experience includes support through trauma, grief, palliative care, caregiver stress, and major health concerns. I feel privileged to sit with people during some of the most meaningful and challenging times in their lives. I never take that trust lightly. I hope to offer you a space where you feel understood and supported.
My Background & Education:
I have over 20 years experience supporting people, with experiences ranging from counselling, working in group homes, geriatrics, palliative care, hospital settings the Ontario Structured Psychotherapy (OSP) program, and with refugee claimants.
I completed my undergraduate degree at the University of Guelph, majoring in Family Relations & Human Development. Throughout this degree, I learned more about family relationships, adult development, human sexuality, and completed my practicum in Harm Reduction.
I returned to school later in life to complete my Master of Social Work at Wilfrid Laurier University. This degree emphasizes continued learning about individuals and relationships, as well as focusing on the influence our communities have on us. Social work encourages us to notice the impact of connection in our lives.
Personal:
I have been married for over 20 years and am a parent to three children
Outside of work, I enjoy camping and exploring Ontario’s Provincial Parks.
I am typically quiet. I like a good cup of coffee and a great book.
