Frequently Asked Questions

Starting counseling can bring up many questions. This section is designed to provide clear, helpful information about the counseling process, sessions, policies, and what to expect. If you don’t see your question answered here, please feel free to reach out.

  • The first session typically focuses on getting to know you, understanding what brings you to therapy, and discussing your goals. We’ll also review policies and answer any questions you might have.

  • You are always free to share as much or as little as you feel comfortable with. Some people prefer to focus on a single concern, while others find it helpful to use therapy as a confidential space to explore a range of issues.

We will also regularly check in on how you’re doing and reflect on the progress you’ve been making in previous sessions. This helps ensure you’re getting the most from our time together, that sessions feel purposeful and productive, and that our work remains focused on your goals.

  • Therapy is confidential, meaning that what we discuss stays between us.

There are a small number of exceptions to confidentiality, all of which are in place to protect your safety and the safety of others. These limits will be clearly explained and discussed with you, so you feel informed and comfortable.

Therapy is intended to be a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental space where you can talk openly about your concerns at your own pace.

  • All sessions are held virtually through a secure, confidential platform. This makes it easy for you to attend from the comfort of your own home, and you will receive the same level of support as in-person sessions with added convenience and flexibility.

All you need is a private space and a device with internet access. Sessions are designed to help you feel supported - wherever you are.

  • Individual Therapy costs $160 per one-hour session. Couples Therapy costs $180 per one-hour session.

As a MSW, RSW, my services are covered by most major insurance providers.

Please reach out if cost is a barrier to see if I currently have sliding scale/reduced rate spaces available.

  • Reduced session fees are available for clients who need financial flexibility and/or who may not have extended health benefits that cover mental health support.

Typically, when a person needs a reduced rate, we’ll arrange a reduced price for a set number of sessions. Afterwards, we’ll revisit both financial need and progress. The overall goal is ensuring your well-being.

If cost is a concern, please let me know and we can discuss options and if I have sliding scale rates currently available.

  • As an MSW, RSW my services are covered by most major insurance providers. Please check your policy/provider for your coverage and limits.

You will be provided a receipt for services received that you can provide to your insurance provider for reimbursement.

I am also a registered provider with NIHB, VAC, CAF, and IFHP.

  • If you need to cancel or reschedule your session, please provide at least 24 hours notice. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours notice may be subject to a fee.
